I have a MTH train set that has been in storage for about a year, prior to that it ran thru 3 rooms of my house. Just the other day I decided to set it up in my garage, after several hours of setting it up, I was finally ready to start it up. I plugged it in, all the cars lite up the and I sounded the bell and whistle and pressed the direction button and nothing happened. The engine lite up but would not move. I oiled all the contact points and tried again, still nothing would move.
What else is there to check? It has always ran perfectly.

Thanks

welcome, Olgnar, to the forum.
feel free to introduce yourself in the introduction thread :)

as ar as your issue. am i missing something? why would you oil contact points (and what exactly do you mean by "contact points")? i'm not familiar with the engine you have but on one of the older engines i received experienced severe oxidation behind its wheels + dirty pickup clips/strips. had to clean that up before it would move

For starters you can check this site out: http://www.mth-railking.com/service/maintenance_&_troubleshooting/trouble.html

Also, there is a chance that the train is locked in Neutral (I am assuming that this engine has Protosound 2.0)... These three threads have a lot of info in them:
