Would you buy a single boxcar? IMO that is crazy

Apparently what makes it so much rarer that the one which sells for $100 is the fact that the shield is solid green instead of being an outline of green...

Clearly these people have money to burn, and are serious collectors. This must happen pretty frequently with the Lionel stuff, don't usually see it elsewhere, except for Marklin maybe. You know, where people bid up to a couple hundred dollars for a mint empty box :)

I would be satisfied with the $100 one. It's nice having rare stuff, but if it just sits on a shelf or in the box.. not as much fun as getting to play with it.

Hah, I recognize the seller, I think I have bought something from there before..

What boggles my mind is that it's not listed as anything special... and NO box for $5000, damn.

Yea, I noticed that too... Almost like he never knew :dunno:

LOL, imagine putting something up for auction expecting $100 and getting almost $5000... I think I would have a heart-attack :o

I would have loved to be the seller. No way I would spend that much money on that unless I were rich and bored.
