The spring training games start soon...
LOL, the Red Sox still have all of their players from the World Series team, except that Curt Schilling has shoulder problems... Maybe another trophy? :D

Well, two and a half weeks into the season the Red Sox are 8 and 5... good enough for 1st in the AL East. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, tore up the Grapefruit League and now, in the regular season, they're in the cellar again already. I feel bad for Joe Madden! His former co-coach at Anaheim, Bud Black, is doing better in San Diego. The Padres are currently in 2nd place in the NL West.
And speaking of Anaheim, ironically the Angels are 8 and 6... better than the Red Sox... and that's only good enough for 2nd in the AL West. Now is this really going to be a come-back year for Oakland? Or are they going to fade after a good start?

Not to nit-pick, but the Red Sox are actually 8-6, half a game behind Baltimore... We will be in first place very soon though, that comeback game last night was awsome!

That is mathematically impossible as we were 5-6 before we went on our four game winning streak... Thank you though, hopefully we can steamroll right through Yankee Stadium with no problems

I must have typoed it. I was flipping back and forth between here and the MLB standings page (http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/index.jsp) on FireFox tabs.

How can you stand FireFox, I absolutely hate it in comparison to IE... When I tried it, it seemed to be very troublesome to do the simple things, or maybe I just did not give it enough time... Sorry about causeing such a ruckus though, I am just really anal about numbers and stuff, LOL :sly:

I love FireFox. I've been using it for years. I guess much of it is what you're used to. When I started using FireFox, none of the other browsers even had tabs. If you wanted multiple pages open, you had to open multiple windows. Today nearly all of the browsers have tabs, but as far as I know, FireFox was the first.

Your Red Sox and my Angels are tied at 11 - 7 for the best record in the AL. Over in the NL Arizona is on fire at 12 - 4, with St. Louis on their heels at 12 - 5. It'll be fun to see if AZ comes back down to earth, or if they're this year's "team of destiny".

The Rockies went to their first World Series. I'd have liked to see them actually win a couple games. But the fact that they were there was great for Baseball in the Rocky Mtn. region. I'm a big fan of parity. It brings more people to the games.

The AL East has tightened up quite a bit recently... The Yankees have won every game (8) since the All-Star break, and now are a game back of my Red Sox, and we are two games back from Tampa Bay... Heck, there is a chance that the Red Sox may not even make the playoffs if they do not get to winning :(

My beloved Brewers are playing for a possible Wild card berth after a 26 year hiatus( that means they've really sucked for that long). They even could catch the Cubbies sometime in September cuz those bums only have 9 home games(with a butt load of division games with the Cards and the Crew). If the Brewers can get Ryan Braun back in the lineup, Ben Sheets away from Gopher Balls.....they have a great chance. Downside is Nedley Yost is their manager.....and he just loves the $10,000,000.00 man Eric Gagme!! Go Brewers Go!!! Everyone loves Bob Uecker!!!! The Sausage Races!!! Say YES TO SUNDAY DOUBLEHEADERS.....THESE GUYS MAKE ENOUGH SCRATCH!!

Sorry I've been pretty busy with work and getting our son off to school for a semester in Scotland. We are in full free fall, burn up on re-entry, crumbling under pressure, choking in the clutch......same old Brewers.....or is it THE MANAGER!!!! Uncle Nedley has GOT TO GO!!!! If The Crew doen't make the playoffs then maybe my Christmas wish will come through.....a good leadoff hitter and a Manager who actually knows what he is doing and shows some spark of life!! The seasons not over.....back in May Yost was feeling the pressure and the Crew caught fire.....but this is different....time is running out as the Phillies and Astros run by us!! Well its not over til the Fat Lady sings....Go Brewers Go! Zambrano pitches a NONO at OUR BALL PARK!!! ARGHHHHHHH!!!:ohwell::ohwell::ohwell::ohwell::(:(: (:(

2 outs nobody on base.....Ryan Braun misjudges a liner to left....can you say implosion! Yeah, it dosn't look good for the Crew! Sheets may be done, the Bullpen is a mess, The Mets have what could be a 2 game lead wirh 10 games to play(we have 9) and we both have to play the Cubs! No it doesn't look good but you never know! C'mon Brewers!!!

After losing 2 games at home to the LOWLY Padres my Brewers assaulted the Pad's pitching staff for a 9-0 lead. Then something went wrong.....terribly wrong! Ken Macha proceeded to wheel out the ARSON CREW(Fondly called the Brewer Bull pen), minus pitching coach Bill Castro, who was fired, and watched the score change to 11-8 in a flash. Kevin Khousmanoff......5 for 5 and 11 for 14 in the series......c'mon will ya! Anyway the crew won and hopefully they can do some damage cuz EVERYONE is talkin PACKER FOOTBALL which is a BAD sign! So I don't know if you guys follow contract years with Major League Players.....but what about guys who are past their prime an are at the end of a long lucrative contract! I give you for your entertainment Jeff "Soups On" Suppan. This guy was an inningsa eater with a high 3 low 4 earned run average early in his carreer and took the Cards to the World Series and MVP fame.....that was then. He is now a Gopher Ball pitcher and is Derek Lees favorite pitcher. Every time,in todays 8-6 Brewers win, Soup would get a lead....BOOOM a HOMERUN....its just not going to change....dump this guy and eat the last year of his contract. He is the worst pitcher since last years favorite "EL HORRIBLE' Jorge Julio. Poor Trevor Hoffman watching Sasquatch play right fild for the Crew....Corey Hart. What an adventure! Next to Suppan he single handidly put the Cubs within an out of tying the game. Two dropped balls in the outfield.....ugly ugly! Well the Brewers are 4-5 and could easily be 6-3.....so there is hope at least for now!

My only regret in life is not ever having visited old Yankee Stadium. I've been a Yankee fan since the days of Mantle, Maris, Tony Kubek, Bobby Richardson, Clete Boyer, Moose Skowren, Whitey Ford, and Yogi....... I went to Comiskey with my Grandad, who was a semi truck driver and traveled to Chicago every day/night, to watch them in 1960(7 years old), game was rained out. We stayed an extra day and watched the Twins. Somehow Killebrew and company just wasn't the same as the early Evil Empire. I did get to see them in Detroit that year though. And I got to see them at Comiskey for a double header up until 1973.

Yeah Bob,
I grew up in Up State NY and the Yankees were THE team. I went to an exhibition game in Syracuse for the Yankees/Chiefs game and got to see,The Mick,Yogi,Elston Howard,Tony K and the Great Joe Pepitone and his Hair Dryer. The game was rained out but we got to see them so that accounts for something I guess. My Boss won a silent auction item donated by Kubek from the Appleton Art Museum....an original signed photo of Boyer,Kubek,Richardson and Pepitone from 1964...the year the Dynasty died(lost to Gibson and the Cards and Cletes brother Ken NL MVP 1964:eek: I'm showing my age!

I'm there with ya(age-wise). Back then they were called the "Dynasty", now the "Evil Empire". I've got a bat signed by Mantle and Maris from 1961, a catchers mitt given to me signed by Yogi from about 1964. And a first baseman's glove signed by Skowren from the same year. (I had a broken arm and couldn't play ball that year)A pennant and baseball signed by the team for each year I got to see them play 1961-1972 and one from 1978(watched Guidry one-hit the Tigers). I've got them all packed away now. Trains take up too much wall space now.
I also have baseballs signed by the 1939 Cubs, the 1954 White Sox, and the 1955 Reds!!!! I've got a baseball signed by all pitchers....Carl Erskine(attended his BB camp for 3 years while in High School), Carl Hubbell, Whitey Ford, Ryne Duran, Nolan Ryan(played with the Astros at the time), Bob Gibson, Ron Guidry, Tom Seaver, Rollie Fingers, "Catfish" Hunter, "Goose" Gossage, Sparky Lyle, Dave Debusschere, Hoyt Wilhelm, Fergie Jenkins, and Joe Nuxhall. There are a few more, but, I can't remember them all.
I've had Ernie Banks buy lunch at the restaurant just over the right field fence at Wrigley. That was a gas!!! We(a few of my old slo-pitch softball teammates made a trip every year) yelled "Let's play two!!" and he came over to our table, smiled, talked a bit, asked if we were going to the game, and picked up the check!!!! They beat the Giants twice that day. And we had the best roast beef hoagies I've ever eaten!!!!
BTW, I was born at Griffiss AFB, Rome, NY.

The guy had a decent career.......and then the Mookie Wilson Grounder....Next to Ralph Branca's homer to Bobby Thompson its the greatest blunder in Playoff/World Series History....at least if I can remember:confused:

MacDaddy, the homer to Bill Mazeroski of the Pittsgurgh Pirates, in the 1960 World Series Game 7 to clinch off Yankee pitcher Ralph Terry, rates a blooper plus. The guy never hit over 19 homers in a season his whole career!!!!! He hit two "dingers" in that series, the other off Jim Coates in game 1 with a man on.

Yeah Bob forgot about the Maz poke at Forbes Field against the Yanks in the 60 Series.....out scored, out hit and still won the series incredible. Alley and Mazeroski were an incredible double play tandem for the Pirates..... and a young roberto Clemente...we have to come up with an Old timers baseball section...and football...and basketball...etc:laugh:

Yeah, the Mazeroski home run was as big a fluke as the one Bucky Dent hit for the Yankees years later. There always seems to be some incredible play during the Fall Classic. Some are truly beyond explanation.
I believe that Ruth, Gehrig, and Dickey once hit back-to-back-to-back home runs against Philadelphia back in the day. I'll have to check that out to make sure. And if memory serves me correctly, it happened on three consecutive pitches. The story may be lore, but wouldn't surprise me any.

Hey Bob,
Buckey Dent...the year of the Mike Torres(former Yankee) Homer to Dent...."Designated Out" or F--K ME DENT! OUCH!

I think Dent's batting average was like .220 that year. One of the few "dents" in the Yankee armor. Pretty good with the leather, but not for crap with the lumber. I remember Torres looking up, then to the wall, and just hanging his head. lol Not much a pitcher can do when that happens. Been there a couple of times myself.

Watched the Brewers POUND the Pirates 20-0 today and thought that the clock has just about run out on Baseball in Pittsburgh. I believe they have 17 consecutive below .500 seasons and aren't drawing at PNC ballpark...which is beautiful. The talent seems to leave every other year like a turnstile. Jason Bay, Freddie Sanchez, Jack Wilson come to mind. It's pretty sad when you think of the great teams in the 60's and 70's even the Barry Bonds teams-pre steroids. And then there's the Orioles....the Owner is the problem there....Cal Ripken could have been the manager for a handshake.....Peter Angelos...crazy:rolleyes:! Well the Crew takes on the Cubbies this weekend and they are on a roll so gotta keep my fingers crossed! Go Brewers Go!

What was the stats? How many yards did Milwaukee gain? Two TD's a couple of FG's and the defense threw a shutout.... Oh, wrong game.

Well after an absoulute demolishion of the Pirates....the Brew Crew have crashed from a barrage of Cubbie Homers 12-1 last time I bothered to look:(.......Derek Lee hit one so far that it had international postage stamped on it! But not to worry....the Pirates are in Brewtown for a 3 game set.....its STILL early!

Okay....The Crew had a chance to sweep the Pirates......if it hadn't been for Trvor Hoffman. The all time saves leader made Brian Doumitt look like the Bambino.....2 for 2 2runs 2Homers and 5 ribbies= 2 blown saves and 1-2 series instead of 3-0. At least they put Jeff "Soups On" Suppan in the Pen....took a while to figure that one out aye:eek:. Ten game west coast trip....Ueck is having major Heart surgery.....by the time he recovers the Crew could be Mathematically eliminated:(....but its a long season!

After an AWFUL homestand....and what couldhave been an AWFUL West coast trip.....The Brewers are only a game under .500! I know it sounds stupid but we Wisconsinites have been through this how mayny times....cept "82"...has it been that long! The Prince hit a Dinger on his Bday, Chris Harveson looks like he can pitch.......and we even survived a Jeff "Soups On" Suppan melt down in yesterdays win over the Dbacks.....bring on the Braves,Dodgers and OOHHH NNELLLY the Phillies!:D

The Crew now has a MLB WORST 4-10 home record......if they don't get thier DOO DOO together....could Willie Randolph be the next manager...this team is too talented to suck at home! The Braves have really come to life and with the Phillies coming in this could be disastrous! Hey B&M how's Redsox Nation handling the losing? I still think they should have kept Jason Bay...that was a mistake. Ortiz and Lowell with Bay in the mix would have protected each other and Beltre has actually hit for average .320 and his power has started to kick in. The pitching has been dissapointing....but it is early until the middle of June...then panic mode sets in.

There will be NO JOY in Brew Town because Trevor Hoffman has coughed up another blown save. I believe thats #6 for the All Time saves leader(Big HOOPTY DOO!) and the team is starting to have that old BAD LUCK! Tuesday...Richard Weeks hits what should have been a 2 run double and George Coterras slips on third gets held up. Next inning Estrada throws a wild pitch and rhe Reds cut the lead to 2 going into the 9th. Hoffman doesn't get anybody out (Scott Rolen hits a 2 run bomb and then a walk a double...game over......this is bad very bad......8 in a row on the slide....but its baseball.....c'mon!
