4-6-6-4 Challenger loco by Rivarossi.... CLINCHFIELD

This is from the later runs in the red box. It does NOT have that crap motor in the cab, but rather a can motor in the center of the boilder. It runs like a champ, and pulls great due to traction tires. It also has better electrical pick-ups (more) than the early models.

I had this weathered by a pro and many think it is a brass loco when they first look. It also has real coal load. Of course it does not have the detail of brass, but it will get out there and run on your layout instead of setting on the shelf.

Selling only as I got some new die-cast metal locos with sound.

$179.00 plus free freight in eastern USA.

There was someone asking if this loco would be an easy conversion to DCC and/or sound. I was explaining this was one of the latter versions with the can motor and individual electrical leads for the motor...no frame grounding.

Speakers could be located in tender.

With motor in this location there is now a modeled backhead in the cab, rather than the original poor motor stuck in the cab of these models. This engine runs smooth, and with traction tires it pulls VERY well. Drivers are also scale flanges rather than the older big flanges these locos had....much improved model over the original. I'm selling as I have a newer metal model of this engine.

So here are some photos of the interior of this loco:
