Newb Question on Transformers

Hello all-

New to the forum and to the hobby... or should I say picking it up after 20 years and changing from HO to O.

In the future I'd like to have a setup where I have the ability to run both legacy and conventional engines. So my question; what are your thoughts on a ZW, Command Legacy, or Z4000 setup? And what is really needed to start with any of these options?

Happy to discuss in a thread setting or over PM. In the northern burbs of Chicago.

as for the subj, no idea, i do HO. but i'm sure one of our O scale experts will chime in at some point

Welcome to MTF. If you go with legacy stay modern. I doubt the ZW is compatible. It's whistle doesn't cut modern electronics. Legacy will only let you operatge one or two conventional engines. You are better off with two separate layouts on the same table if you like conventional. I could be wrong but vist the Lionel site, all the info is there.
