Nice job on bringing out the highlights. I assume you just sanded it a bit??

Close, I used the steel brush on my dremel... I agree with you 100%... Do you think it would be a problem though having that exposed metal?

Depends what kind.. it may actually rust naturally. Further the experiment by putting it outside for a bit and see what happens. If it rusts that will be as close to the real thing as you can get.

Of course, if it's aluminum...

It is a Lionel truck from the '50s, and trust me, they rust :o

That is a good idea, I have a truck that is really shot... Maybe I will go through the same process and stick it outside, just to see what it would look like...

Oh. Then why are you doing it?

You could also seal it with Dullcote to keep it that way.

LOL, I was trying to remove some rust and just went crazy and liked the way it looked :D

But really though, I have nightmares about rust encapsulating everything metal I own :rolleyes:
