How important do you think a rerailers are in a track plan and where would you put them?

LOL, you should move up to O scale... We guys tough it out and do not use re-railers like you smaller scale people do :p

I'd only put them in tunnels and on tracks that are hard to reach otherwise.

Ideally, once the train is on the track - it never comes off, so you don't really need them :)

I don't use them in HO. It's been my experience that sometimes my trains actually go off the track at the re-railer.

you should not need them if you make sure you have smooth track connection.:D

It might just be me, but normally when I have a car come off the track it's right at the re-railer or as I now call them de-railers. On my last layout I eliminated all of them, although manually railing a UP big boy is not fun!
