probably not what you expecting, but, we had loads of fun with that.
today besides watching my soon 2 year old, i was in charge of entertaining nephew and 2 nieces. Sister is divorced and it must be somewhat difficult to be a 9YO living in female company without fatherly figure. so today we all decided to spend time in my garage. besides playing with trains (we assembled a train and later delivered all the cars back to their sidings) which was fun as it is, we took on group project - scratch built house :)
we sat down and planned it out, with me running them up and down their math (total length of walls, material calculation etc) and instructing a bit on drawing projections and isometry. once the boy got reasonably well drawn plan, we took on cutting cardboard. at this point me guiding his hands (as i don't need the responsibility of little fingers cut off and such). we got the shape, and as we were advancing he built more and more confidence (at his 9, he almost never held a tool...). i made all but the last window frames, siding and roofing was mostly his job (showed what i wanted him to do). we will level it later and install gutters. and a color choice wasn't mine of course :)
so far.

after talking to his mom, we decided she is going to dropp him off at our place more often. i might get a helper with my construction :)
and maybe we will be able to squize in a N scale layout (oval) into their tight accommodation. got some N scale stuff on the way to me already, looking at foldable, lightweight solutions.
