HI;
I haven't had a train set in along time. I been thinking it would be fun to do with the grandkids.
But why I'm here, I buildt a rockcrawler/work truck, kinda like Dad had when I was growing up. And I want to make it have real smoke coming out of the tailpipe. I had a train when I was akid that smoked. I was wondering if any of you knew where I could get ahold of a device to do that. If I remmber , it was some oil driping on a glow plug of some kind. The smaller the better.

That is a very nice looking truck you built, at first glance I thought it was a full size truck, LOL... How big is it actually though?
As far as the smoke unit goes, your best bet will probably be eBay... Depending on the size of the truck, one from O scale may work, here is a list of the current units for sale: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=so&sbrftog=1&fcl=3&catref=C6&from=R2&satitle=Smoke+Unit&sacat=479%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=03038&sabfmts=1&fobfmt=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32%26fsoo%3D2

O scale is 1:48, that would make the wheel base 56 feet in real life, LOL... Umm, G scale is 1:22.5, that would make the wheel base 26.25 feet in real life... To my knowledge G scale is the largest train scale out there, so you may try one from that... You could also get multiple smoke units and rig them up together, somehow :eyes:

That's some nice work. Those beadlocks look great. Did you hand make them? And is that a hemi in there?
As far as smoke, go with G scale somke generator, it should make enough smoke but be small enough to hide on that.

A G scale generator would definitely work. I'd be inclined to go nitro powered for it, and have real smoke with a real engine, but this is an incredible piece of work!

I was just about to ask where on earth you could buy any of that stuff, but I guess there is my answer... You are right, that is cool to watch going over the rocks, I can not believe it made it over that huge hump near the end of the video, good driving :D

Nice! I wish my real jeep could crawl like that! 'course, getting high centered like that would do a little more damage and be a little harder to get free!

C'mon, go all out in your Jeep, have some fun with that thing! Driveshafts are totally over-rated anyways, LOL :laugh:

I'm not afraid of scraping on some rocks, but I like to be able to drive home from the trail! Here's my wheeler:

You have to protect your stuff. So I put trialing arms with a driveshaft guard /skid plate. Get's me over the rocks and home.

Man, that thing is just too cool :thumbsup: Gotta be one of the finest r/c trucks I've ever seen. And capable as hell, too :thumbsup: I bet in the right scenery with the right photography skills, you could make it look real.
The big Jeep is killer too (where the hell is drooling smiley dude?!). I dig the old fullsizers. I got one of the little ones :D (old pic... never ending thing...) It sits now with a bunk transmission :mad:
