View Full Version : Buyer and Seller Feedback Thread

Boston&Maine

This thread is where you should post feedback about how a transaction you took part in went... Help out other memebers by letting them know the good, the bad, and I have to throw this in, the ugly ;)

The information here can help you decided whether or not a certain seller is safe to buy from... Just keep it short and simple, maybe you could use a five star scale along with a brief description, sort of how eBay works...

However, this thread is not a place to attack fellow MTF members if a sale happened to go bad, we here ask that you please keep all of your bickering to PM's!!!

On another non Model RR forum I frequent, they have a "seller ranking" next to the member name and avatar. Is that what you are talking about? And I believe that there is a link that links back to feedback.

I bought a locomotive from this guy. On the day that it arrived, I got home to find a torn and wet box. If Bob had not done a great job of packing this engine It would have been damaged by some dumb ass post man that set it in water/melting ice.

Thanks Bob for the great SOU loco. It is running as I type.

Glad to hear everything got there somewhat safe and sound, Southern.

I actually had two dealings going on simultaneously. I'd like to thank John(Southern) and Ron(ontario mainline) for their patience. I have a lot happening here and had to go out of town for a couple of days. Thank you again.

Shay, are you relocating?

Yes, moving closer to my wife's family...there's nothing left here in Florida for me to stick around for. Like the character Red said in the movie, "The Shawshank Redemption", as he's riding the bus to Texas... "I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain."

I would like to add dustinward03 to this list.

I got these off him. He wanted $40, I offered $30, we settled on them for $35 shipping included.
Made in the early 70's.
The engine runs well, all it needs is a little tune up and maintenance, to make it run great.
He said it has some issues. Some I found, the decal is well weathered.:D
Horn is missing and the screw for the engine shell is missing. Though I have not checked the box in the packing for them yet? But the shells are in great shape.
It lights just fine.
The dummy squeaks like a little mouse, must need a little lube. Though I didn't pull the shell off yet. Maybe a real mouse is in it?
The couplers might get replaced by me.

I am happy all the way around.:D A Super Fast Ship and Well Packed.
Though I think it would have been cheaper to ship by the post office UPS did a good job getting them to me.

Thank you for a pleasant transaction!

To far for me to visit.:D
Sometimes I miss a thread because when you log in, then go to reply, as your replying and then hit submit it makes you log in again! Then you lose all the new posts.

I know Reckers has had this happen too.

Then what you got to do is log out and click today's posts. Then pick one to reply to and when done replying, then you log out and click today's posts again. Over and over again otherwise you won't see all the new responses that are posted.

TJ

PS -- I do use "Quick Links / Today's Posts" more often than "New Posts", though, for the reason you describe ... Sometimes new posts don't show under new posts, whereas they do under Today's Posts. Ghosts and gremlins, I say...

Plop it on the track and fire it up! :D

I would do that tonight if my layout was still set up. with my son sick, and not wanting to mess with it, I got depressed everytime I saw it, so I took it apart and leaned the board up against the garage wall for now.............

He goes in for surgery next week.................keep your fingers crossed.........

Scott,

I have two young boys, too. My heart sinks every time they get a cold. I can only begin to imagine your anxiety. My most heartfelt prayers to you, your son, and the entire family for a happy, healthy recovery.

Thank you for the well wishes and especially the prayers! It's been a long 2011.

I'll let you all know how he makes out next Wednesday.

Just want to throw out a huge "thank you" and a "buy/sell with extreme confidence" to "papadiesel!! I sent him a set of fingers, and a set of brushes for a flyer engine rebuild he's doing on a 312. I told him when he gets the parts just drop in a $5 dollar bill and we'll call it even. Well, Gary sends me a $20 dollar bill!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Gary, you're a credit to the human race, and you now have a credit with me!!!

Long overdue but prepping for a storm will do that. I recieved a package from Pete aka Norgale last week. My switches have arrived! All 13 of them.

Yes I could have bought them for roughly a buck less on-line but shipping would wipe out any potential "savings". Plus the fact I'd rather do business with a small(er) business and a member here than a faceless on-line entity.

BTW I still frequent my small mom and pop hardware store whenever possible rather than a borg.

Thanks again Pete.

I recently purchased a Lionel prewar 238E loco and tender from Leonard / LRB1200. It was his father's childhood toy. Leonard's dialog and professionalism was first-class, and I couldn't be happier with his character and integrity. It was important to him to find a considerate next-generation caretaker for his father's old train, and I am honored to fill those shoes to the best of my ability.

A huge thumbs-up to Leonard / LRB1200 !

Glad that there was someone interested in the Cattle and Heavy Duty Flatcars :)

Just think they would have looked a bit odd on the layout design that I am planning, which is more industrial.

Heavy Duty Flatbed Cars shipped out today so you should see them Monday. :)
