This was posted over on the Ford Contour forum which I visit, but since it is good safety information so I am posting it here now... Something that I know I never thought about before watching this video :dunno:

I always thought it applied to retreaded tires. Long drives in the summer heat.
It makes sense if the tires are old and tired!:laugh:
I can laugh, now I already checked out my dates. No surprises.
I would think there would be a noticeable difference in handling before they came apart.
It pays to be observant,when I bought the escort second hand ,I found the lug nuts on backwards.

Hey, at least it had all four lug nuts... I can not believe the amount of cars (it should be none) that I see with a lug nut missing :eek:
