 were geting more famous!

The mods will not be to happy though.

Rules are for the most part, starting price should be included (not sure if it applies here or not)

most people prefer pictures of the item so you will most likely be hounded for this as well.
Oh also the prefer items for sale be listed for sale here exclusively instead of just free advertisement.

P.S. I watch the show and like it very much.

This really doesn't belong here, perhaps in Product Promotion or Retailer Deals.

Mod Note:

Threads / posts have been consolidated to Retailer Deals section.

Looks like they've corrected it...kinda cool auction though. Don't know that I would consider myself a "winner" of that layout...a 22 x 14 layout is quite a hump to move---even next door. My 4x5 nearly had me stabbing my eyes out with a pencil...:D:thumbsup:

But what about the authentic antique Whiskey Still?:D

What about pictures to pre view the items?
Is there a site to view them?

I would like to take a peek.:D

I wonder what it looks like. A pic or 2 might get somebodys attention enough to get some Model RR guys there and have yourself an "Auction"! How do we know it wasn't built by a 6 year old monkey??????

What can you expect, he obviously doesn't care anything about the forum or the people.

why is it a big deal that he didn't reply? he is trying to get more people to check out this train set that is going to be auctioned off. if you had a rc car for sale, you'd prob. join a rc car forum to list it for sale without intensions of sticking around....

i don't understand why some people take things so personal.

this site and the for sale part of the forum it was built and intended for people who would sell and trade with others here to help out others and get good prices for their trains. This forum and its side forums were not intended to be a place for people just to post ads for there buisness or just so more peopler may bid on there ebay auction or auction. This is a site for train lovers not people wanting to make a quick buck and never apear again. This is one of the problems with this forum right now is that these "you are the 100000 person" ads that constantly spam you and pop up on your screen even if you don't touch them. I get that ads are required to keep the forum a float but i don't get why they can not be train related or hobby related to say the least. I have no problem with Gallery 63 saying that they have an auction comeing up with a train layout up for auction but the fact that they have no even attempted to reply or even post a measly picture up of the layout and you can't say they don't have a camera. This kind of ad i would be ok with because auctions are things I like to go to if I ever find them especially if they have trains.

I've moderated several forums for many years, it's a constant battle to keep the SPAM out of the forum and stick to folks that actually contribute to the forum in some way. I get annoyed when I see a hit-n-run poster.

The good part in the forums I moderate is that I have the hammer, and I just nuke the drive by posters. ;)

Guys, I'll remind you that this thread is no longer in the For Sale section ... it was move to the more generic Retailer Deals section.

It's a bit of an unusual listing (i.e., not your normal "buy my loco" or "buy my gizmo" pitch). The Discovery Show tie in adds some flavor, I think. Certainly, if no one here is seriously interested in bidding on the layout, it might be fun for someone simply to tune in to the show to see a train layout get a little TV air time, and see how it looks / sells.

My opinon, anyway ... spoken here simply as a member, rather than a Mod.

I'm sure it's the people at Gallery 63 just trying to increase the traffic for their auction. I enjoy the TV show (have it set to record on my DVR) It'll be interesting to see what it gets.

For me - building the layout is most of the fun, I wouldn't want to buy one already finished, although it would be nice to have all of those trees to add to my layout.

I would at least have the courtesy to come back and answer any questions.

Your having an auction you at least give a preview, or a link to view the items for sale.

They are trying to get people to check out something?

Discovery and most of the other once educational channels have turned to crap. Contrived "reality" TV, with the same episode rebroadcast ad nauseum and in reality no educational value beyond idle curiosity.

This showwould be a prime example.

But nice layout.

i'm sure it was a marketing aproach to get more people to bid on it, however, this is a train forum and this is a place where it should be posted rather than a rc forum. how would you feel if someone from this forum purchased this layout because it was there dream layout and they were happy with it? that would have been to help someone on this forum out just as it was to help them get more marketing publicity. i'd also like to know if you were with the owner when he created this site? you say what this site was created for, you don't know. you only know what goes on in the atmoshere that exists here.

i agree with you 110 percent this time. i'm glad he posted here. that gave me a reason to tune in and see a train layout get some publicity on national t.v. from a hobby that's dying out slowly due to more advanced technology.

i take things so personally because the mods manage this site , they do a good job, they don't need members telling them what they should do about a certain thread or something for sale. i don't get why people on this site are so anxious to bash outsiders whether it's coming here to post something up for sale or post a link to another sale they have somewhere else."there are mods here to keep this clean, people posting in the thread doesn't help" i do understand that this is a place for modelers to buy and sell things. however, i dissagree with the whole "oh you shouldn't post that here because you're not a regular member here
you guys can say whatever you like, but this is how i feel as a member reading some of these threads.

most of the other forums i'm on, if you post in the forsale section on a item you're not intended on buying, or if you post useless information for example " i can get this cheaper there" or "that's not worth that" or even if you post in a spam thread you get a nice little vacation from the forum. i like the lenience here but still think some people should keep there opinions to themselves if there not constructive.

another thing, if a thread is spam, you post in it, you're bumping spam back to the top of the list for other members to open and see spam. just leave it alone and let the mods do there jobs.

Let's see if I get this right. You're free to post your opinion, but the rest of us should just shut up? I have the same question, what's your problem, why such an interest in this? If the other member responses bother you, why not simply ignore them?

i don't go posting useless bullshit in peoples forsale threads.

and you're asking the same question that was answered in the above post.

personally, i think they should make a rule here you post bullshit in someone elses forsale thread, you get a nice little vacation. end of discussion!

last but not least, if it's spam and you think it's spam, don't ***** about it in the thread, all your doing is bumping the thread for everyone else to ***** in.

No need to apologize to me Doug, I am just trying to understand your view.

You posted in the for sale with a list, prices and pictures if needed.
I would believe you are there for questions that arise?

That is how it should be.
If your selling or auctioning describe it or throw a link to preview at least.

They posted an e mail address and phone number and did not even reply to that. That is just wrong in my book.

that wasn't just from this thread though, but something i read here made me post what i did.
