Hi
I am starting a model railroading club at my school. I will be supplied with around 200 dollars and about 25 people will join. If anyone has any tips or anything that can help.
Thanks,

Welcome.
My sugestion would be to follow a modular layout concept like
T TRak >>> http://www.t-trak.org/
N Trak >>> http://www.ntrak.org/
or Freemo >>> http://www.trainweb.org/freemoslo/
That way, everyone can build to their budget and ability and take their work home with them. The club's only real expense would be the connecting modules. You'd also be able to setup at train shows. Down here a club can get $100-250 just for setting up and keeping their layout running through it. One show we would setup at actually had a voting system with awards as well.

I never knew a display was paid. Is that true for most shows?

Yes, it is, at least down here anyway. Many clubs are 501c3 non profits so it is a tax advantage to the sponsor as well.
