I'm rebuilding a Lionel O gauge 671 and was wondering how to remove all that old dirty grease before I apply the new?
I'd rather not have the steamer catch on fire
Thanks

Qtip 10wd40 or paint thinner.
Have fun

I use rubbing alcohol and a stiff paint brush. Started that way years ago on a whim, it was the only thing I had handy at the time. It's proven faithful thru the years, especially in wheel gunk and dirty track.

I'll have to try that.

Thanks Mr. Bob.
The alcohol method sounds good and maybe less dangerous.
I just can't see putting new grease over old dirty grease. I'd like to clean all those gears out first.

I like that it dries fast, leaves no residue ---cheap---:D. A Q-Tip dipped in it works great as a soft scrubber, too. Keep us posted on your progress:thumbsup:
