When someone posts a picture, I cannot see it. There is simply a blank space, no box, no link, nothing. Is there a setting on the forum or is this an Apple/Mac issue?

Look in your profile and see if this option is checked -
Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)

Safari / Preferences/ Appearance
check box for "Display images when page opens"
Firefox / Preferences / Content
check box for "Load images automatically
Hope this helps.

might not apply to your situation. but when I view this board from work i can not see 90% of the images either. image-shack and photobucket are firewalled here.

I'll check on those settings when I return to "work" tomorrow. You're right Tankist...it could be their firewall settings.

Allen,
Basic question, but when you're not able to see the images, are you actually logged in? Often, images posted by members won't show up unless you're logged in to the forum.

Where under the profile is that? Can't seem to find it.
Thanks!

User CP (on top menu bar) / Settings Options (on left hand menus) / Edit Options / Thread Display Options (third box grouping downs).
Hope this helps but it doesn't sound to be the problem if you could see the image. Curious. . .

The question would be, what images can't you see?

For example..I cannot see pictures in the first post in this thread: http://www.modeltrainforum.com/showthread.php?t=7527
But I can see some pics in other threads.

Allen,
Those pics in your example above are Photobucket links. I wonder if "dynamic" access to Photobucket is your problem? (I'm not a techie in this regards, though ...)
Here's the direct Photobucket address for the first photo. If you cut/paste that into your 'net browser (or click on the link below), can you see the photo directly?

Do you have a Photobucket account? If not, create one, it's free. See if that changes things. I can't imagine why it should, but it's something to try. :)

I do have a photobucket account, but we are blocked from using it at work. May be part of the problem??

Possibly. What happens if you simply enter the photobucket URL address into your web browser? Do you see the photo? I'd guess not, based upon what you've said.
That could be the root cause of your problem. Many members here use photobucket to upload their images, and then simply reference the URL address to the photo here in the forum. For you, that's likely a roadblock.
Thoughts from more advanced techies?

TJ, you have nailed it, if it's blocked, he won't see the graphics, end of story.
