Just to let know I got back power to the house sometime today. Plenty of people still without. It was about 2 and half days. Luckily the weather was mild and freezing water/heating pipes were not a problem. The family went off to relatives but work chugged on. Have to go back to work I'll look at the threads later. I havent had time to view the news either. I do know last year there was an icestorm. Canada I think. Some people waited 6 days for power. Will come back later, maybe with a few stories.
Take care

I just got power and internet back myself! I lost power about 10:00 PM on Thursday night and it is a little after 4:00 PM on Sunday now... I did not have any heat (it got down to about 40 degrees inside the house last night) but our stove and hot water heater worked...
It is a real mess up here... This is by far the greatest amount of damage that I have ever personally (like not on TV) seen a storm do... A bunch of pine tree limbs broke off due to the weight Thursday night, but thankfully the pine trees are not located close to my house... I cleaned up most of them today and it was not fun... On Friday morning I took a few pictures of the mess, but I do not know how they came out... I will upload them later tonight...
As of right now, around 195,000 people still do not have power :(

Zipped through the threads. A lot of interesting stuff. The cranes were neat. It will be nice to sleep without hearing generators or cracking tree branches.
Good night

Glad you guys are ok. I've got a couple of friends still in shelters up that way. We've got a couple inches of snow on the ground here, just enough to be pretty!

Your right about pretty I posted some pictures in the NH thread. The second day into the storm only one gas station had power. Cars were lined up.Two people in front were filling cans for generstors. MacD and one pizza place opened up and they got crowded too. Stratham buisness section didn't get power until the third day.

I thought the forum was quite this weekend. A few years back we had an ice storm that knocked out our power for a few day. I feel for Y'all.
Glad you got the power back. it is hard to make the trains go with out it.

Some schools opened today. Kids are gone! Had a 60 degree heat wave yesterday. It didn't help me I was still chilled to the bone. Craigslists is full of generator scalpers.Such is the capatalists society. Just about back to normal.

Yea, and we are supposed to get another storm on Friday into Saturday... I heard between six to twelve inches from someone at school, but I have not actually seen the news yet... Something like 70,000 people are still without power...
