Hello Steve, Thank you for your observations about the 736 locomotive. It really does seem to be the queen of the postwar Lionel steamer fleet. Mine is not in mint condition, but it is definitely nice enough to not consider repainting. My tender for now is just a generic Lionel one that is in good shape; it wanted to derail at higher speeds yesterday, but it may have been some of our poor rail joints on the club layout. Ordering some smoke pellets is next. I believe I'll stay away from the liquid smoke for this loco. If you can get them, pics of your 736 would be much appreciated. Thanks for your info. Bill
It's a great locomotive. I have over 12 cars behind mine and it acts like there are none. I read a thread here where someone said that the 736 is one of Lionels best pulling/running locomotives. I believe it. ......I ordered smoke pellets from Hennings train parts. I think it was $14.00 a bottle. It's a great smoker and it smells good too.
