I have no cities on my layout, just roads leading to them through, the countryside of the mountainous region.:smilie_daumenpos::laugh:
The "Atlas" GG&N is the classic over and under double mainline figure 8 on a 5'x9' train board with "the cookie cutter type" for elevations
Eventually pictures will appear....But do not hold your breath! So as not too reduce oxygen to ones brain!

I can't seem to figure out how to do a PM so I'll post here. :) You posted in my thread that you may have a transformer for me at a good price. The only thing I ask is if it is an older one, has it been fully restored? I don't currently have the know-how to do it myself and need one that I can rely on to get started. Much appreciated on the post in my thread and I appreciate any info you can provide. Thanks.

Hi. No that layout is long gone. I still have some of the old track, rolling stock and the buildings. The loco I had is in real bad shape. I got a newer one off e-bay and will slowly rebuild mine. i am in the search and buy mode right now and hopefully will start actually building a layout in a year or so. I just can't seem to find the time right now!

Hey tr1, sorry to leave you hanging for so long; I've been inactive on this forum for several months, just due to work and other interests. You know how life goes.
As far as friend requests, well, I don't have a Facebook account and probably never will. Just my own personal way, I guess. But the train forum is a sorta good way to contact me....

Ebay, four good suppliers, thestylehome, wehonest_cn, sfcdirect, and cnmodelnt , not sure exactly which one those specific trees came from though...might have been sfcdirect or maybe evemodel_es .. I think I may have upwards of 5000 trees on there so far..

:welcome:A cheap or inexpensive way too make mountains is too use the "hard shell scenery" technique. This was first introduced some time in the 70's, by a gentleman named; Linn Westscott.(not sure on the"spelling") It involves the use of"hydrolcal." It is a lite weight casting plaster... When paper toweling is dipped into the water mixture, or applied. It forms a strong and light weight "hard shell". The color receptive shell requires oil paint washes,(earth tones; burnt-umber and such). I highly recommend, this technique for making mountains. Also: rock face castings may be added together with the rocky landscape that is normally found in these mountainous regions. I think this method for scenery was first called "ziptexturing." I greatly recommend this process for making mountains and things of that nature. If your layout is in the garage, once again I highly recommend this process.
The area I'm trying to represent. Here, may be washed to represent sand, stone, and gravel. Then, the actual material will not have to be employed micro waved to "kill" unwanted
outside pests, bugs, etc. ect. And Woodland Scenic offers water based earth toned color washes. As I had mentioned earlier;I'm planning too add pictures here at the forum. :stroke::ttiwwop:

I've got good news; I found my lost digital camera. Now I'll have to figure out how to operate it. Check in my Media section. occasionally. Thats where I will locate them eventually. I have more important things Todo first.

When this layout was first started, DCC was not mainstream. Consequently, the first wiring
attempt was for single engine operation. So 18 AWG wire was adequate for the current levels
produced or expected. Now with the DCC. The current level possibly, even greater than the current carrying capacity of the wire. I will be required to beef up my wires.(larger AWG) After exhaustive research, I Feel I'll be able to meet the requirements for risk free operation.(No smoke on the decoders and things of that nature). NO signals confused instructional data.Doing so...... I think, the use of "snubber's",(an R/C)circuit will help absorb the current spikes along with signal reflections.(unwanted noise) in the command signal. It's really not much trouble to add, just an additional form of insurance. for the electrical components, and instructional data. I presume. Regard's,tr1
