Hi Ron, Thanks for posting, I enjoy your posts. Sorry to be late in getting back to you. I don't get many notifications and I just noticed yours a few minutes ago.

You will notice on the bottom of the coupler there is a flat head screw. Run a single wire from the screw to one side of a momentary switch. (That is a push bottom switch that closes the circuit when you press it and opens the circuit when you let go.) From the other side of the switch run a wire to the 14v accessory post on your transformer. When you press the button you will be supplying power to that screw and activating the electronic magnet. You only need one wire with positive power, you do not have to hook a ground to this magnet.

There are two problems. #1 Most of us run at 16-18 volts and the directions say to hook it up to a track clip. It is too much power for the magnet. I run a positive current wire from the accessory post at 14 volts to the momentary switch. Then run a wire from the other side of the switch to the screw on the bottom of the uncoupler #2 If you use an on/off switch and leave the switch "on" the magnet will melt the plastic shield and short out the coupler magnet. It must be a momentary switch. Push the button, uncouple and let go. It only takes about 2 minutes on and the magnet will start melting and then short out.

Good luck and email me if you need anything else. dwf1@cox.net

Well the 8632 should have one. It is not made to be a big hauler. It is only a starter engine. Bull frog snot would be a better idea than gluing tires..One working tire does a lot.

Ron, I don't know if you revisit posts that you replied to, but I made a comment about your 1668 loco. If you get the chance, read it, and see if you can see what I mean.
