Magazine Article Outline

I know each magazine (MR vs RMC mainly) focuses on different aspects of model railroading, but I'm looking at potentially writing a couple articles for each in the near future. Does anyone have a basic outline for their articles that I can follow so I don't have to go back through several months of magazines to get their basic outline?

Thanks.

I think the basic outline is something like "who? what? when? where? how? and why?". Seriously, I think what they look for is informative and educational pieces written from a personal and unique point of view, not some specific outline. Submit your pieces as you think they should be written. Let the editors decide what needs to be filled in more or left out. Good luck!

I'm sure they get hundreds of articles a week submitted. I really want mine to stick out so I emailed both RMC and MR yesterday asking for outlines and tips.

I've written hundreds of articles for a variety of magazines. Each one has a different set of writer's guidelines. That's what you need to request. These days you can do it by e-mail. In days gone by, you had to send a SSAE to request the Writer's Guidelines. Some magazines actually have them on their web sites along with payment schedules.

Here's an example: http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/s...ion-guidelines

For those of you rushing out to find an article by me, until recently, I wrote only under a pseudonym and not under my real name. Personal reasons.
