Built this little Porter earlier this year using gears and wheels from a Bachman n-scale diesel, brass sheet, a clear penny tube and bits and pieces form the junk box. First up was the frame made from brass sheet and soldered together, all the wheels are insulated so power pick-ups had to be built for both sides. Used sewing pins epoxied in place to hold the drive rods to the wheels.

How the frame looks assembled and the general mess of all the bits and pieces.

Next with the wheels, gears and side rods from the bottom.

From the side.

The power pick-ups took some time to get the right spacing.

After got everything running smooth it was onto the boiler, water tank and all the misc. parts.

Built the cab from bass wood.

After a little paint.

And a few of the other cars I built.
