I think Swede's comment above hit the nail on the head. There must have been something odd in the ink mix of this particular litho print batch. That would explain the uniform fade on the main body...

Lots of rails-to-trails here in the US, with a few devoted websites, too....

I've done a lot of tinplate restoration work ... some purist, but many my own choice of colors. That said, I've never thought of a white theme, with black trim, etc. Your cars look so nice...
