Another TRAIN blocked

Not a coal train.

Climate activists block train outside German VW car plant
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-49338859

Environmental activists chained themselves to tracks to stop a train transporting cars from a Volkswagen plant in northern Germany.

The freight train was brought to a halt on a bridge over a canal near the city of Wolfsburg, in Lower Saxony, while police cut the protesters from the rails. The operation took several hours.

A lot of protests going on around the world these days. A sign of the times I guess.

Because, of course the engineer could do that with impunity. A similar situation happened at a detention facility in Rhode Island, where an employee drove his pickup into a line of protesters who were blocking the entrance to the parking lot. He was suspended from his job and is facing charges of Assault with a Vehicle.

Whether you approve of what someone is doing or saying or not, if their actions do not threaten your immediate safety, a violent reaction is NEVER appropriate.

I can guess that all those various groups are watching each other to see what tactics work and what doesn't. Just imagine how disturbed our lives will be in the near future when every organization, right or wrong, decides to protest until they get what they want!

The protesters in Hong Kong haven't tried that yet, but I think the Chinese government wouldn't look kindly on it if they did.
