As the price of gasoline rises the railroads are fast becoming the best and cheapest way to transport goods on a large scale.
The railroads used to be the prime mover of goods until the highways and cheap gas made the railway rates too expensive, now the opposit is happening, truck traffic is not only the price of the big rigs there is the cost of keeping the highways in good condition, heavy truck traffic wears out roads very quickly.
Airlines are also having to face soaring fuel costs. They account for a lot of long distance travel, gee the railroads are poised to do very well in this competitive world.
