There must be a better way for a track trip! I am attempting to adjust the misaligned contact springs. So far, no sucess. I think that I do not like this POS! I am going to stay with the AF 696.:laugh::laugh:
The 697 track trip was specifically designed for those operators who are really into self torture. I have never used one and never will. There are far easier ways to control things than with that torture device.
What are you trying to use it with? The 697 and the 696 perform two different functions. The 697 is an adjustable pressure switch, the 696 is a momentary switch the wheels contact and used mostly for crossing flashers. If you are using the 697 with rubber roadbed on either side of it, you will have to shim under the disc with a piece of cardboard. I have found them to be relatively dependable, but I also have 670 electric trips that are more reliable since they don't normally go out of adjustment.
