Gone but not forgotten...

Last month, I found a MTH GP9 in Chessie colors on eBay. It was a buy it now item, so I jumped on it ASAP.

Well, tracking shows it leaving the dealer in Virginia, then making its way to the Teterboro NJ distribution center. Next stop should have been my local PO.... It has been at Teterboro for a month!

I put a trace on it from my PO and the seller started a trace and claim from his PO. My Postmistress told me if it has been missing that long, it is probably lost for good. Great.

Luckily the seller insured it. He is going to refund my money or let me pick from some new/used engines he is buying. I wanted that engine though! A PS2/3v C&O geep.

This is the first time I have had a package vaporize in the PO system.

I am hoping for the best, that it is found and forwarded to me.

As an aside, I received a 1/43 scale VW Beetle today. I ordered it from a fellow in Israel 3 months ago! Thinking good thoughts...

If you have seen this engine, let me know...lol

Well, no-one can claim it's out there in cyberspace! Best of luck in finding it.

A couple of years ago I bought an engine from Steve Nelson. Normally orders from him arrive in two working days.
This time the engine made it to the UPS facility in my county. Then it left.
After a couple of days when tracking still showed it in town it appeared in Montana, wrong way and 2000 miles from me. Finally showed up about two weeks after it left Steve's in Indiana.

A bummer Tom.

Years ago I had a very rare Lionel set shipping via UPS from CA to OH. It entered the Chicago UPS hub never to be seen again. I had my UPS representative from work to attempt to trace it. He said if it was scanned into the Chicago UPS hub and not scanned again, it is history. The company that I purchased it from refunded my money, don't know how they did with UPS.

Sound like some of the USPS employees are cut from the same cloth as some Airline Baggage Handlers. Sad!

Yeah, I have had stuff mishandled and shipped across the country before the PO realized the error.

The record is a train I bought from a seller about 65 miles away from me. It went to California and back and was only a couple days late getting to me...

Amazing how anyone can lose a package of that size.

Tom; that's a tough pill to swallow when your expecting a delivery and it gets lost. I'm sure someone at the post office has it on his own layout. I had medicine delivered to me in Hawaii last year (Priority Mail) and when I tracked it it went to Manilla, right past Hawaii. I had to wait 3 addition days before it left there because there was only 3 flights a week.
I also realize that UPS isn't perfect either but whe you handle 10,000,000 packages a day you're bound to have some hiccups.
