Locomotive has stopped working

I have a Broadway Limited, Paragon 2, steam engine #9915 that was working fine but has now stopped working. I was running it just fine on the layout using NEC DCC. When I went to reduce the speed and stop it the locomotive just kept running. I reduced the speed to zero and even pressed the 'emergency stop' button but it kept running. The only way to stop it was to turn off power to my whole layout.

When I turned power back on the locomotive will not run (move) and I get no sound. The only thing that is working is that I can turn the headlight on and off.

Any ideas about what happened and what can be done to fix the situation?

It's not uncommon for a DCC decoder to 'lose it's way'. The
first thing to try is a reset to default. Use your
controller manual for directions on how to do this.

Good luck,
That is why I will not buy any more sound engines. They run like junk half the time.
