More cheap tricks

Need a traction tire for a Baldwin or a PA.I have found that a 5/8 rubber O ring fits perfectly.Remove old tire and clean tire groove throughly.A tab of Superglue in several spots and snug O ring in place.Hold engine off tracks and apply power to get tire spinning.Using an emery board file O ring flat so it grips the track. You can find O rings at most hardware or plumbing supply stores cost bout 25 t0 50 cents each.....

Thanks for more of your "cheap tricks". Helpful.

I found some O rings at Walgreens. They are for things like pony tails. In the hair care section. They are clear.
About the same size as your O rings and are dirt cheap. Like 100 for 2 bucks. I had thought they might make
traction tires for trains. O scale couplers are notorious for coming open for no apparent reason and I use these to
keep couplers closed. Works.

That is a neat trick. I have heard that folks use double-sided tape (I assume the thin clear kind) on old steamers. Anyone know of this?

Benz trains had a video about using tape for traction tires.
I posted how to make some using 'O' Rings, a piece of dowel and put the dowel into a lathe and sand them flat. No one seemed to think it was worth the trouble.
There is a thread somewhere about making them using different ideas.
