Do any of you have an idea what a lionel set 292 which had a 248 loco a 229 pullman and a 230 observation car sold for in 1930 . I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE THE CORRECT TRANSFORMER IT CAME WITH AND A MANUAL REPRODUCTION IS FINE. THANK YOU
It is a trick question. The 1930 sets did not come with a transformer since household current was not standardized. To answer the question Type A or B was used with 60 cycles. I checked the 1930 catalog.
For starters. the Pullman & Observation cars were #629 and 630, not 229 and 230. As Tjcruiser has stated, the transformers were not included in any Set in that time frame. The ones he posted, are most likely what you could have used. As far as the contents of Set 292, it would have been Red 248, Red Pullman & Observation, 068 Warning Signal, and 8 curve track. The price in the 1927-1932 was $7.00 for the complete set. If you have all the components, and the box, the price listed from McEntarfer's Sets, lists it at $350. Hope this answers your question.
Nice little set back in the 1990s bought one in set box #292 for 90 dollars just the cars and engine .
Runs smooth and very well easily pulls the consist including an extra 629 car that are run once in a while.
