New Downtown Deco kit "The Atomic Cafe".

This will be shipping in 2 or 3 weeks. I put a lot of time into the pattern work & I'm really happy with the way this one came out. It will retail at under $50. Super simple construction, devastatingly realistic. Questions?

Cheers!

Does this place actually exist? The 1942 date is curious since the first nuc explosion didn't happen until a few years later.

Good catch. The sign is based on one that appeared in an Indiana Jones movie, other than that it's a freelance design.

Yes but the word "atomic" has been in the english lexicon since the 1800's. It's been in the writings of H. G. Wells, used in the Pulps of the '30's & in the Flash Gordon serials to name a few.

But I don't think there was a mushroom cloud associated with it till the Manhattan project.

The Cafe exists, I've been to it. If I remember right, it's located outside Pacific Northwest National Labs in Richland, WA

Just for giggles, the Mushroom cloud was added in 1946.
