WHY DOES THIS OCCUR ?

Why do threads appear under "New Posts" that are from months/years ago ?
Today, not yet having noticed the OP, "Second HO Layout" was entered on 3/16/18 I almost added one of my long-winded replies on why I don't like this or that, along with suggestions on how to improve them.
But then I began to wonder why there could be so many many pages of replies already there, in a 'new post'. Then it hit me; the OP is old, is why.. .Why does this occur ? Thanks, M

The last posts added were done since you last visited the forum. So, there are "new posts" in the thread, that's what the flag means.

If you click on the little blue box with the down arrow in front of the thread name it will take you to the beginning of the new posts instead of the beginning of the thread. It took me a little bit to figure that one out.

Correct, sorry I didn't add that detail, it's a useful tidbit.
