Taking a break from my repainting projects and rewiring some old lionel 027 switches. I have 4 1122 switches, two are 1122 with 5 notch housings, two are 1122(e) with 3 notch housing. The 1122(e) clearly house a light bulb to light the switch. On the 1122 with the 5 notch housing I see no place for a bulb? Were these not light like the other ones or am i just not getting it?

I have a number if 1122s some e some not. But I'm not familiar with the distinction of the notches.

I think I have both the styles you're talking about. Here is the 1122e on the left and the 1122 on the right:



One of the obvious differences is in the gear housing circled above. The silver piece with a black knob protruding on the 1122 is a light holder. If you remove the cover, you can see where the lights go:



Sometimes the light holder piece in the 1122 is missing, which leaves a hole in the housing. My guess is this is the case in your situation.
