Hello,

I am currently building an 0-4-0 locomotive and don’t want to have the ugly electricalpickups on the outside of the chassis. To prevent this, I am hoping to find two axles that are 2mm in diameter and has a plastic spacer in the center of the axle between the two wheels. This would allow me to pickup from the axles on the inside of the chassis.

I would like the spacer in the center is because I’m hoping to have both + and - picked up on each axle to prevent the loco from cutting out on dirty tracks or across points.

Does anyone know of a place where I could find axles like this?

Thank you for your time,
Eric

it's not that hard to find axles, the trouble is most frames are metal, and the wheels and axles [from just one side] are electrically connected to the frame .. the wheels on the other side are insulated, and are reversed on the tender, or other truck ..
the easiest would be to use wheels that are isolated from the axles, and pickup power from the back of the wheels inside the frame ..
