Good Evening Everyone,

A couple weeks back, I picked up my Union Railroad MP15DC Bicentennial engine from Pat. MTH did a nice job on the overall paint scheme. They overlooked a few things however, and being who I am, I couldn't help myself and set about to correct a few things. On the real prototype engine, the exhaust stacks are painted silver(MTH did white), both pilots are painted white(MTH did black), and the walkways along the long hood and the pilot decks are black(MTH did white). Of course, this required disassembly of the engine to do a proper job. That was ok though, as I needed to carefully pry the cab figures away and reverse their positions to be facing out the rear of the cab as the Union Railroad normally operates the lead engines running cab forward. While the shell was off, I also reversed the motor lead wires in their plugs so the MTH running sequence is now N-R-N-F. Also reversed the headlight wires in their plugs to keep them in sync with engine direction. In addition, in order to unscrew the pilots from the trucks for painting, the motors must be unscrewed from the trucks in order to gain enough wiggle room to have access to the screws that mount the pilots to the trucks. I used Krylon spray gloss white, Krylon spray satin black and Testors flat aluminum bottle brushed on by hand. The final details were adding the vertical number 17 on the back of the cab along with the required Coleman cooler on top of the battery box. It took a while, some patience and a little swearing, but I'm happy with the result.
