Hi everybody, new to the forum, not necessarily new to the hobby although this is my first real layout since I was a youngster. I still consider myself as a beginner because only now am I getting more into the hobby.

I thought I would take a little break from the bench work, sometimes it can drive me crazy.

What I have in this video is a three loco consist of DTI (GP40-2) -GT (GP40-2) -DTI (GP40) pulling 17 cars and a two loco CNW consist (GP15-1 and C425) pulling 20 cars.

Sorry, I sacrificed some video quality for upload speed. I don't think I'll do that in the future.

Thanks TJ and Ron

Ron, I used newspaper covered in the woodland scenics plaster cloth for the mountains. I don't quite know how I will finish them yet. I think what I am going to do is cover them mostly in green grass with the occasional rock outcropping. I was originally going for some rolling hills covered with grass. I guess I'll have to wait and see if it ends up that way. As for the layout the table is 6' x 16'. I have attached a picture of the actual track layout, it's kinda a half dog bone if you will.

Thanks for the compliment on the yard that's where I have focused on the most because I kind of new what I wanted there. I still have a little work to do around the edges though.

Brandon,

Nice layout plan ... good use of turnouts, crossovers, yard spurs. I like it. Where'd you find 16' of space in your house ?!? And who did you have to pay off to be able to claim it for the trains?!?

Good luck!

TJ, thanks for the great compliments.

As for using up the space for the model railway...I went with the approach that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission!

It just so happened the way my basement is laid out, the staircase kind of splits the basement into two sections, one bigger, one smaller. I moved some things around and took over the smaller section :)

Komodo, yeah I like the CN. Since the CN runs right though my town I thought it might be neat to go with it. I also am collecting the Grand Trunk Western and Detroit, Toledo and Ironton (I like the bright orange) and on the other end is the Chicago and Nothwestern.
hmm, i have always wanted to see a real cn train, it would be cool. right now my layout is mostly conrail with a little csx and other.

plenty of real CN up here. this Wednesday my train was 45(!!!) minutes late because of them running a freighter during commute hours (i think it got stuck or something...). plenty of real CP as well. actually there is plenty of everything here:)
