Naming it

I found this old Rivarossi Heavy Mikado in a box of parts engines for very little money.

Missing among other things the boiler door I thought about a replacement and came up with this:
rsv1ho;

Yes, leave it as is and just say its a locomotive from the nickel plate road! :D

Who's that on the front....Pinocchio? :D
:)

Yes, I tried to miss old TJ's face but caught a part of his cheek. Still off-centered a bit.

If you squint really hard you can see a bit of light coming from the brass tube. I need to install some fiber optic there.

It's completely reversible if I ever find the correct boiler door. But I think I will just leave as is. Thought about painting the coin satin black but it would hide detail.

That Nickel Plate Road thing crossed my mind too. In that box of parts engines was this NYC Berkshire Nickel Plate Road engine but no tender.

Missing only the left side number board it runs like a champ with a substitute tender.

It had to cost more then a nickle?
You had to drill it out and glue it in?
Then there is your labor cost, what do you figure cut rate at 20 bucks an hour?:p

Nicely done, you can truly say it is one of a kind locomotive.:D:thumbsup:

Watch out, isn't there a federal law about destroying money?:)

Yup, I forget what bit size I used but it was perfect for that brass cut-off. I buy those cut-off in small packets consisting of various sizes of brass, aluminum, and copper. They come in handy. CA'd it in from the reverse side.

I work cheap. :)

Yes, something about defacing currency. Sure did that to old Tom.

I found a replacement door on ebay, left it for someone else.
