Nostalgic resurrection
But much better looking.
In the '70's I was building a '40 Ford coupe into a street rod...
Instead of using costly new parts, I scrounged through the local scrap yard for stuff I could salvage and repaint... a starter, a generator, a bell housing, etc.
Almost every time I went there, I noticed a Penn Central gondola, being filled with sheared scrap metal, or waiting to be shuttled to the steel mill.
Over the months and years, each time I saw it, it was more beat up and rusted than before... until eventually it was nearly unrecognizable.
This Tangent model was a serendipitous find awhile back. I filled it with a layer of styrene snips on a bed of black FlexSeal, and now it's waiting to be moderately weathered, so it can sit in my model scrap yard.
The '70's aren't coming back.
But it's fun to re-create the memory of an old friend.
