I believe AMFlyer said try to find one , referring to the AM Dreyfus Streamlined Hudson. I didn’t have to find this one, I bought it back in 2003. It’s been run less than 5 hours. Some minor paint chips. Here she is, with an abbreviated consist .

I passed on the AM 20th Century Limited set long ago. It's a decision I sometimes regret.

They had a 20th Century Set?
I wish I had that engine. I passed on a scale version that AM was selling at S Fest, now I regret it. I have the passenger cars.
There was a set, Dennis Bagby had one and it was the only set he refused to sell when he was liquidating his massive collection. I tried several times, bought a lot of other NIB items but could not get that set.
Better get that trailing truck re-railed.

Yep. It's the reason the Budd Cars exist. From AM's 2008 catalog:

Three extra coaches were also availble.

I just put it on the table for the pictures. I don’t run it too often at the moment.

Equally rare: The AM Texas Special.

The only set where the locomotives were not available separately.

I would have liked to get the SP Daylight and MP Colorado Eagle back then, but my bucks only stretched so far...

Jack is right. The ESE is correct. Sometimes my keyboard gets ahead of my brain. My bad...

That Texas Special is really nice. There are a lot of sets AM could rerun and they would sell. The IC City of New Orleans is another one.
AM has the corner on passenger cars. It was a sad day when GGD announced there were insufficient pre-orders to make their passenger cars in S. I had a NYC set on pre-order.

Ron once indicated the IC sets were poor sellers. That's why there were no IC Budd dome cars made.

There was a Panama Limited decorated by AM using the 85' streamliners: Baggage/Dorm, Coach, Dome, Sleeper, Observation. This was a custom run for Scenery Unlimited in the early 1990's as I recall:

And as there were no AM E8's back in the 90's, Don Heimberger had a handful of FP7's custom painted for IC:

Have to admit that’s a sharp one. Pity it wasn’t a hot seller.

that yours , on your layout?
Rusty, I never saw or heard of that Panama Limited set. It looks great on the 85' lightweight streamliners. I only have the 85' streamliners in PRR livery. As I recall, you also have a Santa Fe set.
I got tired of looking at the large gap between the AM passenger cars. Here is a picture of my PRR 85’ lightweights after the coupler arms were each shortened by 3/16” and diaphragms from the Budd cars added.

The photo's were taken on my old layout, dismantled in 2020 due to a move.

Since I missed the chance to get the Hudson, I am making do with a NYC Niagara to pull the Empire State Express. This engine is a Lionel Flyerchief (pre-Bluetooth) that was converted to TMCC/Railsounds. I think it is the only FlyerChief steam engine with wire handrails. It looks like a Gilbert Northern but was made with new tooling.

It looks like the scale version. In the video you linked, it sounds like 2/chffs per revolution but in the longer 40 second video it sounds like 4 chuffs. Has that been converted to DCC?
Yes Tom, it's an older Soundtraxx unit called an Econami. The previous owner installed it. I bought the set plus four add on cars from him when he advertised on an S scale modeler's forum that he was selling off much of his collection. It is not my favorite decoder so some day I'll put in a Tsunami 2 for better sound.
