Yes I slipped in a ringer. :D Actually there is a story behind it. I have been looking at the 6059 since my recent purchase pf the 213 and 216 Minnie and St. Lou's. Ebay had the caboose at 1.99 with 18 minutes left. It did not look mint but the roof appeared whole so I bid and won as the only bidder. The seller only had 25 feedbacks. I got an e mail later saying he was refunging my money and sending the caboose anyway It had more problems than descrbed. SO it was free.:)

Here are some original pictures. Paint splatter on the opposite side and a broken coupler.

I have to say it was an act of kindness and I gave him a great feedback!

Rehab

Out came the paint thiner and some fine scotchbrite. The shell has scratches anyway a few small ones will go unnoticed.

No ringers were used this time.:D

I did notice that my first 2059 has a fixed knuckle. Neither has a coupler in the rear. One version in Doyle,s book describes one made.

The epoxy man strikes again.
I am guessing epoxy was used?

Good deal T Man, why don't you cut a hole in the top and add a smoke stack.
Add a smoke generator and some LED lights inside.
Add outside marker lights too.:D:thumbsup:

Edit,

I see you were not done posting yet.
When am I going to learn to wait on answering a T Man post?:p

Polishing the Ebay caboose with some polishing compound will make the plastic look almost brand new. I use Turtle Wax brand. Just go easy near the lettering. A little Pledge spray wax over that, and you'll have a supper looking caboose for free.

I like it! Put a truck on it and let er ride the rails!

That's right about the compound. After I used some rubbing compound, the difference was noticed. EVen on the molded surface the compound smoothed it out, WIthout it, your fingers sounded like they are on sandpaper. Thanks for the reminder!

The boxcar has a roof discoloring so I will try it on that too.

Has anyone built a longer caboose???????
