I was hoping you could help me find the value of this set. The engine looks to be S-scale but I cannot seem to find the value of this specific locomotive and service car. I know they are from the mid-50s at least. I imagine since they are not in mint condition the value would be less but could anyone give me a ballpark figure?

I would appreciate it.

Bad:
Condition Car(C-6) looks to be in better shape than the engine(probably graded at C-4/5 or less)
Odd scale, not many S-scalers

Value? Without being to handle it, watch it run, and really get a feel for it, I would be pressed to pay $20. Surely it may be worth more but not to me.

American Flyer is part of Lionel now but not then. It is a two rail ac motor. Can't do a date. Ebay is the best bet. Observe and watch a few auctions. These are common pieces in poor condition. FInding a buyer is tuff. It may be worth as much as 50 but 30 is reasonable. Ball park. The S gagers are down in RI.Find a library with a price guide?

Chances are that when you sell, ebay resellers will be knocking. They are efficient in my neck of the woods.

I found this site. But google the engine number and american flyer and you will get more results than you can shake a stick at. The 287 built in 54.
