I don't know why people put this "at" @ symbol in front of my screen name, which is just, "Traction Fan" without the @
Maybe there's some digital reason for this that this old analog fart doesn't understand?

It just means they are addressing the response to you just calling you out specifically...also if u hit it, your info box pops up... @traction fan

I can @Severn myself too.


Just type the @ then letter or two and it'll provide a pull down of members names. Keep typing to narrow, then select
....

It also gives you the alert so you know you're being talked about without quoting the message!

In certain applications, such as Discord which many digital product companies now use for PR & product announcements etc, inserting the @ before a name is a sort of keyboard shortcut to direct a message at that individual.
Here, with the quote system, @anyone is redundant.
