I had a friend that just purchased a home. In the attic of the garage and house he found (8)boxes of HO trains. In (4)boxes there is nothing but rolling stock with wheelsets and trucks that have been removed. Most of the cars look to be Athearn or equal quality. Why anyone would cannibalize plastic wheel sets is beyond me unless they were replace with metal ones.

Anyway, I have used all of my "cast-off" wheelsets and what trucks I had in the "junk" box. I barely put a dent in one box. And I have yet to look into the last 4-5 boxes that he has dropped off.

If you have recently retrucked or rewheeled any of your cars, I would be interested in the "cast-offs". With the magnitude of this project, I will be working on them for months. Looking for "cheap or free" to get these cars back on the rails. I am willing to pay shipping if need be.PM me if you've got anything available.

I am in the process of changing ALL my rolling stock to the Proto Ribbed back metal wheel sets. I have a ziploc bag almost full and would be happy to help you out.

truck sets

I have a lot of trucks and wheels as well. But I would need help identifying which are the Athearn wheels. Many are weathered, and look good, imo.

I have about half a dozen 33 inch plastic wheel sets for ya I am still working on replacing more, (I ran out of metal 33 inch, again.) When I have 3 dozen I will PM you.
