Honestly, model manufacturers aren't necessarily that scrupulous in faithfully reproducing prototype paint schemes.

I would look for color photos of the real thing.

I don't think the RR's were either on MOW equipment. Big cranes at a train wreck weren't exactly good advertising.
No, but it it's a railcar in its own right, especially if it's self propelled, it requires proper reporting Mark's.

On the other hand, the railroad herald prominently displayed on the wrecked loco is already bad press... at least with the crane, they can show that they are working to clean it up.

I cannot find a source to cite but many years ago I visited the B&O yards and facilities at Benwood, West Virginia quite often. In the late 1940s and early 1950s I wandered all over this area. It was easier back then. I would check in and be old to stay out of the way and off the tracks. I recall MofW equipment to be a light grey that got darker with age.
Of course I could be wrong. It has been sometime ago.

Didn't have any grey spray paint so it ended up black, which is just as well because the link had a couple boom cars that looked like later iterations of what I made:

Those cars definitely aren't black though - the car body is much lighter than the trucks. I'd say it's likely oxide/"boxcar red".
