I did this on a bet
Then took 2nd Place.

Caz bet me that I couldn't make a Bachmann model look real.
So I did my best...

About a 6 month project, on-and-off...
I shaved off the lousy stuff, and replaced it all with wire grabs & handrails, and quality detail parts, e.g., Tichy brake gear and Accurail trucks.
I mounted pinless couplers, and weathered it.
Then I took pics, and entered them in a photo contest.
Second Place wasn't bad for me. I'm fine with it.
At least I won the bet.

That's very good. Very very good. No I'm afraid it might be excellent really. The effect, the lighting, the features. The 3rd one is the best of the 3. But that's by a hair. Anyone looking at that photo out of context without specifically looking for a "giveaway" would think it was the real thing.

Well far better than my effort which involved a sledgehammer...
