Now I plan to run the power to multiple points in my layout. I want to use as few pieces of individual track as possible. For this reason I do not want to use terminal pieces that are only nine inches. What is the best way to connect the wires straight to the flex track? I was thinking of just soldering them to the outside of the rails. I would drill a small hole to hide each wire in.

I soldered connections every 10'-12' on my layout, although each module has a means of being connected, so that means I can connect every 3'-6' if need be. I used "mini" receptacles to connect each module. Got them at Radio Shack, I think.

Make sure to solder on the OUTSIDE of the rails and not he inside.

I just made my own pics.

Some day I may get around to ballasting the track.

In this photo you can see all three types that I have on my layout. Powered, insulated, and regular couplers
