With a little work, you can usually work out the rivet pins for the bottom board and get inside to fix whatever is bent. What's the bottom look like, does the copper contact come down to contact the center track?

If it doesn't just add a piece to it instead of taking it apart.

The only reason to remove the bottom is to work the spring on the bumper. Otherwise you have a copper piece from the center rail to the bottom of the bulb. Now the outer rail has to make contact through the fram and those small screw. If everything is painted you have NO connection. This is where a meter is handy to ensure that there is contact.
