My Lionel Polar Express Observation Car got into an accident where something on the track went wrong and it car started smoking. When I looked at the bottom of the car, the wires that feed to the lights were burned apart. I could get a new car off eBay but want to know if there is a cheaper way to go. Here is a Picture.

I would try opening the car up, removing the old wire, and then soldering in a new one...

The wires are mechanically stressed. Must of caught something and pulled the wire to ground. A new wire should do the trick. Something around 20 ,22 gage strand wire.
