I decaled an undecorated Accurail stock car for C.N.R. stock car number 175104, very similar to photos I have of the same number series cars.....did some “lime” whitewashing that acted as disinfectant on the lower sides.....turned out ok, I think....

How come you didn't stagger the lime line on the top?
Like in the picture?
Looks too clean up top, like it was painted on?
Shouldn't it be a little more random.
Isn't that a livestock car? Or does it haul lime?

I like to call it artistic license.... :giggle:

Anyway, some cars had a nice clean top, like it was painted on....mostly because it was!

Well then OK.
Livestock car? Or do they haul anything they can in it?
As long as it can get wet I guess?

Having been a city kid I have never seen a 1:1 stock car and your photos are the first I have seen with the lime whitewash. How common a practice was this?

P.S. The model looks good.

On CN and CP.....very common, in fact it’s hard to have seen a stock car without the lime, usually in various stages of intensity.....

Pretty much universal, which is why some cars were actually painted white on the lower 2/3 to 3/4 of the sides so the lime would blend in more with the white-painted sides. But not all were - the example in this thread was not, so the lime spray is pretty visible.

I know, I was just clarifying your statement about the lime being sprayed “all over the car”.....
