I enjoy working on and running older locomotives. To date I have found Mantua locomotives to run extremely well for their age, inexpensive and easy to work on. I was thinking about starting to collect these. Unfortunately I do not have any idea where to start. Are there any catalogs available that display the pre tyco available engines? Or web sites for this type of information. Also where if anyplace can parts be found for these.

As a final note I have only worked with the steamers. Are the diesels of the same quality / or were they even available at this time?

There is a Tyco solledtor web site too.

Mantua steam are fine runners, their diesels left something to be desired but their earlier ones were good enough to collect and tweek. I have a couple of their Alco C430s and F7s.
