So, if one wanted an "instant" SR passenger train...

The cars new (really new) are $34 ea. So you get the loco "for free"... sorta (because none of it is really new).

The cars are one thing, they can be upgraded and made to run well. But I don't know anything about Con Cor locomotives old or new. Any advice would be appreciated.

A notch below Athearn BB in detail.
I had a GP40 awhile back.

IMO, the only excellent product from Con-Cor is their BCS-Branchline 65' Heavyweights.
Kadee couplers, detailed interiors, lighting, superb detail, and 18" radius friendly.
Among the best passenger cars available (but sadly drying up).
Coaches, combines, baggage. RPO's, observations.
I have nine, and I run them almost constantly.

No, those aren't from the BCS Branchline series... Misrepresented by eBay.
Branchline BCS are superb 65' HEAVYWEIGHTS.

I have some really great con cor NKP heavy weights with lights and interior. Pulled with the #759 Berk. Must have watch these go by as a youngster as I lived only a block from the NKP tracks in Fostoria.
